Product Review Score: 3/5

For the record, we love Back on Track Products, but these splint boots for horses don’t quite fit the bill. Our Back on Track Thereputic Exercise Boots review suggested that you will get the protection your looking for, but maybe not the longevity.

These boots not only protect the leg from injury, but also help alleviate current aches and pains with their famous Welltex fabric that stimulates blood circulation. However, we also concluded that this boot has stretching tendencies and run large in gereral. With that being said, if you compensate for the sizing problems, there is no reason why you shouldnt love your Back on Track Exercise Boots.

Pros

  • Theraputic for old injuries
  • Prevents new injuries
  • Durable Design

Cons

  • Boots may stretch
  • Sizing Runs Large

Iconoclast Splint Boots

Iconoclast Equine splint boots for horses have taken the rodeo world by storm. Everywhere you look people are trading in their old splint boots for Iconoclast. The reason is really simple. They work. A team of veterinarians and horse trainers developed the boot when they became fed up with the currant market for splint boots.

Think about it, how many horses in the rodeo arena have had a suspensory or other lower limb tendon or ligament injury? According to the top veterinarians in the U.S. almost every full time equine athlete will sustain some sort of tendon or ligament injury during their career, whether it is a small strain, tiny tear, or a full blown torn Suspensory torsion.

If you could prevent this type of injury for your horse, would you? Of course! Luckily, that same team of vets came up with the double sling technology that enables the horse to have maximum support.

The Iconoclast equine boots are also highly recommended for horses that have had previous suspensory and sesamoidial region injuries in order to help the horse rehabilitate faster.

Sizing and Application

Hyperextension of the suspensory is extremely common for horses that participate in rodeo, cutting, and reining competitions. For this reason you are seeing a lot of the top competitors switching over to the Iconoclast support boot. In order, to make sure the boot is working to it’s full potiential, you will need to measure your horse’s fetlock circumference.

The small size is for fetlocks measuring 8.5-9.5 inches around

medium is for 9.5-10.5 inches around

large for 10.5-11.5 inches around

larger sizes are available also.

When applying the boot to your horses leg, you will first start by placing the inside horizontal hem just above the fetlock. Then, starting at the top, you will pull the horizontal straps snugly to create support. Lastly, you will pull the cradle, or lower, straps around the bottom of the fetlock to a 45 degree angle from the front. Next, do the same with the other cradle strap and you are finished.

Iconoclast “Suspensory Support Matters”

Iconoclast® Orthopedic Support Boots feature our patented Double Sling Straps for unparalleled lateral support. With its evenly distributed support to the suspensory branches, Iconoclast® is the only boot that truly lifts and cradles the equine leg.

 Iconoclast Hind Orthopedic Support Boots

Designed to reduce joint interference and restriction, this is the perfect all around boot for every equine discipline. Iconoclast® Orthopedic Support Boots will help your horse feel more confident with each step he takes, in and out of the arena.

Never has this method of support been provided for the equine athlete through a strap on, non-restricting device. Iconoclast® Support Boots not only protect against flexion injury, but they also offer effective benefit during rehabilitation from previous injury.

Iconoclast® Rehabilitation Boots were designed by horse trainers and leading veterinarians who were unsatisfied with the performance of every other support boot in the market place. The equine leg needs support and protection against the daily rigors of extreme physical activities and there has not been a boot that adequately meets those demands until now.

The Iconoclast boot is uniquely designed and fitted to your horse to provide enough height to support the Suspensory; when compared to most other splint boots you will notice the Iconoclast boots will have added height.

Pros

The Iconoclast equine boots offer the maximum protection available to equine athletes today. They are also sized uniquely, in order to truly be compatible with each horse. Iconoclast also doubles as an excellent rehab boot for horses that are currently suffering from injuries to the lower limb.

Cons

These boots are relatively expensive compared to some other brands. You might consider only using these boots during heavy exercise, in order to save them, and substitute with a cheaper brand on light exercise days.
